Yerba maté

Yerba Maté consists of the magical leaves of the Maté plant, native to the South-American Rainforest.
Maté leaves are hand-picked by local workers, dried, and ground-up before you add them to your Calabaza with some hot water.

Maté is very healthy. It contains many antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, as well as abundant polyphenols. No wonder South Americans often refer to Maté as the liquid vegetable.

Yes. The amount of caffeine found in Maté sits somewhere in between coffee and tea. However, combined with 24 minerals, vitamins, and countless polyphenols, Maté stimulates your mind while nourishing your body.

You’ll be energized yet relaxed; there’s nothing like it.

Our Maté blends are handmade with 100% natural ingredients. They do not contain any additives, aromas, or sweeteners. Simply dried herbs and fruits, combined with top-quality Maté. Nada más!

Yerba Maté has a very distinct flavor that somewhat resembles strong green tea. It has a very herbal, somewhat earthy flavor with some resemblance to eucalyptus.
Maté is often considered an acquired taste and can take some getting used to. But once you get used to the taste, you won’t want a day without it!

There are many ways you can enjoy Maté. You can drink it as a tea, using only 5-10 grams of Maté per serving. Also, you can drink it traditionally, which requires some practice but is the best way to drink a Maté!

Yes, you can! Maté is very healthy and, according to Pasteur Institute and the Paris Scientific Society concluded that Mate contains practically all of the vitamins necessary to sustain life. But bear in mind, too much of anything is bad for you. So enjoy your Maté in moderation.

Maté does contain caffeine. So, if you are sensitive to caffeine, avoid drinking Maté at night. Also, we advise against pregnant women consuming large amounts of Maté.

A calabaza or gourd is a naturally grown, South-American pumpkin with a nickel silver rim.
Our calabazas are harvested by and purchased directly from local farmers in Argentina each year, after which they are hollowed out. Then, local craftsmen laser our logo onto the calabazas using artisanal techniques.

As calabazas are products of nature, each one is unique in shape, color, and size. You have to take good care of your calabaza to maximize its lifespan.

No. The heat of the dishwasher can break your calabaza. Also, the detergent may seep into the calabaza, leaving a soapy taste for your next Maté.

So, how do I clean my calabaza? Very simple! Just empty the Maté after use, rinse it with water a few times and let the water seep out by putting the calabaza upsidedown on your filter straw (bombilla). Then, just store it in a dry place until later use!

Does your calabaza have green, brown, or black stains on the inside? Don’t worry! This is normal, as it is simply the result of oxygen reacting to the pumpkin flesh. Combined with natural discoloration. It is not molded!

Once you use your calabaza frequently, you will notice that the color of the maté stains the inside of the calabaza. It gets darker and darker on the inside, before eventually turning completely black.

That’s very unfortunate. Despite our thorough checks, some calabazas can leak. Please get in touch with us, so we can resolve the problem for you!
